Denise Saavedra was born and raised in the South Bronx. She was the first in her family to attend college at City College of New York, where she received her degree in Childhood Education with a concentration in Literature. Denise knew she wanted to be a teacher very early after visiting her youngest brother at his school for children with cerebral palsy. In 2019, Denise enrolled at Hunter College to pursue her Master’s in Special Education (Grades 1-6). Denise strives to create a classroom that is inviting to all students. In her free time, Denise enjoys doing yoga and trying out new recipes.
