Emalie grew up right outside of Hartford, CT. She comes from a family of educators, which includes both her mother and her grandmother. From a young age, Emalie played school with her sister and realized that she too, was destined to become an educator. Emalie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Connecticut. While at UConn, Emalie studied abroad in London, England. During her stay in London she spent time studying Global Citizenship and interning at a Primary School in which 42 different languages were spoken. This experience fueled Emalie’s passion for working English Language Learners in an urban setting. Emalie began her teaching career in Willimantic, CT in 2012. She taught second grade there for 4 years before moving to Manhattan. Emalie taught 3rd grade in a public school in the Bronx for a year before joining the Haven team, which she is absolutely thrilled to be a part of.
In her spare time Emalie enjoys walking her dog, cooking, reading, traveling, rooting for the UConn Huskies basketball team and exploring restaurants throughout the city.
