Teacher – Raised in the Bronx, Janelle is a proud Nuyorican and has always had a passion for acting and working with children. In an attempt to become a behavior therapist for children with disabilities, Janelle found her way into the New York City Teaching Fellows program. It was that summer of 2014 when she began her journey as a Special Educator. She received her master’s degree in Adolescent Special Education at the Hunter College School of Education (where she also went to undergrad to study English Language Arts). Teaching was not Janelle’s first choice, but very soon she realized it combined her two passions – acting and serving the youth in her community. Teaching has taken Janelle to many places, including the Dominican Republic where she works in the summer as a PD coach at the DREAM (Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring) Project. Janelle has been a special educator for seven years and has experience teaching all subjects.
