Jaylene is extremely excited to be a member of the Mott Haven Academy team this year as an ELA teacher. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY by immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic. Throughout college Jaylene volunteered in many educational programs where she held roles as a teacher, tutor and mentor. She received her B.A in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Fordham University and is now a student at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education for Adolescent English. Jaylene has a passion for educating inner-city youth and inspiring them to love learning while also following their dreams and becoming outspoken and independent.
