\nSustaining a trauma-sensitive environment is essential to supporting our students in the child welfare space, where 92% of kids have been exposed to at least one traumatic event. \nWe prioritize creating a predictable and stable place for all students through running the same program every day, using common language and behaviors from all adults, supporting students and families outside of school, and focusing on social emotional well being. \nStudents are given as much voice and choice in their learning experiences as possible.\u00a0Students are able to practice decision making skills in a safe environment and have ownership over how they learn and interact throughout the day. Staffing Model and Partnership with Outside Agencies<\/span><\/p>\n

The unique Haven staffing model is specifically designed to support learning in a child welfare-impacted space. We have large social-emotional and behavior specialist teams, both of which include individuals with educational and clinical backgrounds. We also partner with outside agencies to provide comprehensive mental health and behavior support for our students. Over a hundred students every year receive individual counseling.
