Public Admissions Lottery
Lottery drawing held for open seats. Families are notified. Child welfare & District 7 priorities applied.
Step 3 • May & Beyond
Rolling Waitlist & Registration
Registration dates will be communicated after the lottery. Late applications will be placed on waitlist in the order they are received. Throughout the year seats are filled on a rolling basis when there is one available.

Is Haven Academy a public school?
Yes. Mott Haven Academy Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter school open to all children residing in New York City, with primary preference given to residents of New York City Community School District 7 in the South Bronx.
What grades do you serve?
Haven Academy serves scholars in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade (Pre-K, Elementary and Middle School).
How does enrollment priority work for students in Child Welfare / Foster Care?

The New York Foundling to support scholars and families impacted by the child welfare system. All NYC students are welcome to apply.
Per our charter, preference in the lottery is given to:
- Children currently in foster care or involved with prevention services.
- Siblings of current Haven Academy students.
- Residents of District 7 (South Bronx).
- All NYC Students can apply.
Is there a tuition fee or entrance exam?
No. There are no tuition fees, entrance exams, or audition requirements to attend Haven Academy.
Do you support students with IEPs or English Language Learners (ELL)?
Yes. Haven Academy is fully inclusive. We provide dedicated special education services (including SETSS, integrated co-teaching/ICT, and speech/occupational therapies) as well as English as a New Language (ENL) support.
