Academic Intervention Specialist/Teacher –
Karen, a Bronx native, attended Manhattan College where she graduated with a Bachelors in Social Work and a minor in Elementary Education. She was a caseworker for a non-profit foster care agency in the Bronx, under the supervision of the Administration for Children’s Services. Karen is a Haven Academy founding teacher and has taught kindergarten for 8 years. Karen is currently working as an academic intervention specialist. Karen is pleased to be part of a school community that allows her to pursue her passion for education while supporting children who face challenges, particularly within the child welfare system. She enjoys working with small groups and giving scholars one-on-one support. When not working, Karen enjoys spending her time with her family.
