Tiffany Smith was born in Harlem and shortly after became a Bronxite after her grandparents became her legal guardians as a newborn. Tiffany grew up in the Fordham Heights section of the Bronx as a little girl and moved to the North Bronx where she has resided for over 30 years. Tiffany grew up loving to learn everything that she could about the Bronx including its history.
At the age of 14 years old when she was able to to get her first job with the Summer Youth program Tiffany discovered her passion to work with children. Tiffany began to work with children as a Summer Camp Counselor at Minisink Townhouse in Harlem seasonally for seven years working with children ages 5-12. After Tiffany was given the opportunity to work as an afterschool counselor while in High School she had no idea that this passion would grow into so much more. When Tiffany realized that her passion to work with children was growing into a career goal Tiffany decided that she wanted to be an agent of change for children and families.
Tiffany attended Cheyney University of Pennsylvania 1837, the first Historical Black College and University. Tiffany’s major was Psychology. In college Tiffany participated faithfully in community service, advocating for the rights of students, and becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. After graduating from Cheyney University, Tiffany returned back to New York City to find a job in which she could work with both children and families.
After working with different populations and in different settings for several years Tiffany made the decision to attend Lehman College in the Bronx to obtain her Masters Degree in Social Work. In the process of obtaining her Masters Degree Tiffany continued to volunteer in her community, advocate for at-promise children, and joined the community based organization Phoenix Sorority Incorporated. After graduating with her Social Work degree Tiffany has had the pleasure of working with children and families across the Bronx by providing them with mental health services and to continue to be an agent of change in the Bronx!
