After-school Director and IT Manager
A South Bronx native who grew up not too far from Haven Academy has dedicated over 19 years of community service to our neighborhood. Mr. Garcia started his service at the young age of only 13 years old as a volunteer for The Ranch, a youth leadership program at the time.
After 4 years of service, he was assigned a leadership role with the program which he held for over 7 years. Mr. Garcia graduated from John Jay College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Policing and a double minor in Law and Sociology.
Due to his relationship with the previous organization, he started working for a few camps organizations where he held many positions, from a counselor in his beginning years to Assistant Director. Soon after this, Mr.Garcia was asked to join the Mott Haven Academy Team in its early stages and has held an array of positions at Haven Academy, and supported our Haven scholars from prek-8th. Today Mr. Garcia holds the title of Community Outreach Coordinator for Mott Haven Middle and is in charge of continuing and strengthening relationships in our community and beyond. He is always seeking out key opportunities to further the growth of our students. Every day he brings a sense of pride into his work and a desire to help students succeed. Next time you see him, feel free to say hi and ask him what he likes to do in his spare time. It may surprise you!
