Haven Academy is a nationally recognized PreK-8th grade school specifically designed for children in foster care and the child welfare system. We use a combination of leading social-emotional learning curricula to help vulnerable children – many of whom are survivors of trauma, abuse, or neglect – regulate their emotions and do their best learning. Our pioneering school model has led to Haven Students consistently outperforming comparison groups on state math and ELA tests, with Haven students in foster care being more than twice as likely to be proficient in math and ELA than children in foster care statewide.
