As a young child Jessica enjoyed the opportunity to help her classmates, especially if they were having difficulty with a concept. This was a chance to enforce what she’d learned and break it down in a way her classmates could understand. These small victories of successfully aiding other individuals, fostered a love for teaching and helping others. From a young age, Jessica originally dreamed of becoming a pediatrician, yet the idea of nurturing the mind of young children became just as captivating and fulfilling.
After earning a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Hunter College, Jessica went on to pursue opportunities as an in-school tutor for Grades 5-8, step/dance activity specialist for grades K-5, and an Assistant Teacher for Kindergarten self-contained class at private school located near the United Nations. The experience and joy of teaching and learning with children promoted her to return to Hunter College and pursue her Master’s degree in Dual Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6.
Prior to Haven, Jessica has taught 5th and 6th grade self-contained classes for three years. Jessica looks forward to implementing and developing her skills at Haven. On her free time, Jessica enjoys reading, mentoring, learning about various cultures, and spending time with her son and family.
